Why I built Pixel Pocket
A few months ago, I needed to convert a batch of SVG files to PNG, compress a few photos, and extract several key frames from a GIF. These all sounded like small tasks, but as I searched online, the growing list of "free" tools made me more and more uneasy:
- Some required me to upload files but never explained where the servers were or who could access them.
- Others popped up a registration window right after processing an image, as if I couldn’t continue without handing over my email.
- And many were labelled "free", but then charged for a high‑resolution download, or were filled with tracking ads.
As a regular user, what I really wanted was simple: open the browser, drag in an image, get the result, and close the tab. No traces, no compromises. Since the tools out there always seemed to fail at some point, I decided to build my own.
That’s why Pixel Pocket exists.
What makes Pixel Pocket different, baked in from the first line of code:
